Week 2: Tiger Barb

Fish of the Week

This Week's Fish of the Week: Tiger Barb

Also known as the Sumatra Barb, Tiger Barbs are eye-catching fish that add movement and colour to any aquarium with their orange/gold body and 4 distinctive black stripes. Well suited to aquarists of all experience levels, Tiger Barbs are easy to keep, growing to approximately 7cm in length and are best kept in shoals of 8 or more.

Tank Size: 60+ litres
Temperature: 21°C - 26°C
pH: 6.5 - 7.5

Classed as semi-aggressive, companions should be carefully selected, as Tiger Barbs are known to nip the fins of slower, longer-finned tank mates.

Being omnivorous, Tiger Barbs will eat most varieties of live, fresh, flake, and freeze-dried tropical fish foods.
